Ross Genge wins Sportsmanship Award at the PCO
Picture the scene: Late Friday night, last match on court between Lorne (Showtime) Stienke from the River Club and Ross Genge from VRC. Showtime has quite a following from the River Club with his unusual style and on court presence. Anyway the crowd was going berserk and cheering Showtime with every miss hit and his uncanny talent of hitting the ball as loose as possible. Ross just kept his cool with all the cheering going to Showtime and eventually pulled this match out in five. --Steve Lawton - April 10, 2003

Sportsmanship Award
Brian Hamman got the nod as the Sportsmanship Award winner in the BC Provincial Championships, hosted by Sport Central March 7-9. Brian plays with a consistant demeanor which is appreciated by opponents, referees and spectators alike. Congratulations Brian.
Sportsmanship Award
Grant Stockwell won the Sportsmanship Award today at the well-attended BC Open held at the Arbutus Club. When your opponent angrily disputes a number of calls in a match, it can be challenging to stay centered and have fun playing the game. Grant combined accuracy and extraordinary fitness with the joy of play and is a very deserving winner. - February 15, 2003
