Whilst Canada and Hong Kong celebrated twin successes, the 2002 Scottish
Junior Open Squash Championships in Edinburgh were notable for the lack of
any title victories by British players.

Canada achieved a double in the U-17 events - top seed Robin Clarke beating
compatriot Michael Auer 9-4 9-2 9-0 in the men's final while Jennifer
Blumberg knocked out Scotland's No1 seed Kirsty Craig en-route to the final
where she beat unseeded Australian Donna Urquhart 9-6 9-7 9-10 9-6 to lift
the women's crown. Kyla Grigg reached the U-19 final, losing to Kasey Brown of Australia 9-1, 10-8, 7-9, 9-0

Dutchman Dylan Bennett made up for the disappointment of failing to reach the
quarter-finals of the World Junior Open in India three weeks ago by winning
the Men's U-19 title. His 9-6 9-5 9-6 victory over India's Siddarth Suchde
in the final marked his fifth successive win on the European Junior Circuit.

Australia's Kasey Brown, seeded only to reach the last eight, upset England's
No1 seed Susie Pierrepont in the quarter-finals of the Women's U-19 event,
then went on to triumph 9-1 10-8 7-9 9-0 over unseeded Canadian Kyla Grigg in
the final.

Hong Kong's successes were both against the odds: Chun Ming Au reached the
Men's U-13 final unseeded, then toppled Germany's top seed Florian Silbernagl
9-7 9-4 9-3 to win the title, while Ho Ling Joey Chan, also unseeded,
followed a straight games semi-final win over Welsh favourite Bethan Williams
by crushing Germany's seeded Stephanie Muller 9-1 9-0 9-0 to win the Women's
U-15 final.
