This
past weekend was very busy in Canadian Squash.
Canada Winter Games
The Canada Winter Games wrapped
up in Campbellton, NB, with a 4 ½ hour encounter between
the boys from Ontario and Alberta. This ended in a 2-2 tie with
Alberta emerging the winner on points. In the afternoon the British
Columbia and Ontario women played. Neha Kumar had to default due
to injury. BC won 4-0. Manitoba took the bronze medals in both
boys and girls competition.

Canadian University and College
Championships
The Canadian University and College
Championships were held at the University of Toronto. On the men's
side, Rob Nigro, University of Western Ontario beat Andrew Jones,
University of Western Ontario 3-0. Carolyn Russell, University
of Toronto, defeated Alana Miller from the University of Manitoba
9-7, 9-5, 10-8.
Canadian Doubles Championships
Vancouver hosted the Canadian
Doubles Championships at the Hollyburn Country Club and Evergreen
Squash Club.
In the men's open Eric Vlcek and
Tyler Millar beat the defending champions Taylor Fawcett and Paul
Deratnay 3-1. Karen Jerome and Jessie Chai made it their 4th consecutive
Open National Doubles title defeating Alica Haneine and Nicole
Martin 3-0.
