Canadian Masters Team Squash in Winnipeg
Winnipeg!!
In January!! Who in their right minds would go to Winnipeg
in January to enjoy -26° plus a wind chill (or to be
more accurate, minus a wind chill)? Masters squash players,
that’s who. For those who are not familiar with this
event, it is a keeper and one you really should try to attend.
Aside from the good squash, and there is certainly plenty
of that, you have the chance to meet up with old foes and
friends and make new ones during a fun-filled weekend. more...

The king of sports
For those who missed World Squash Day:
Forbes magazine ranks squash No. 1 among the healthiest sports,
with "Convenience" on its side: "30 minutes

"Squash is the
only racquet sport that is growing in the United States"
Tennis Industry Magazine, now called Racquet Sports Industry,
has reported that squash is the only racquet sport that is
growing in the United States, based on court construction
and gear sales. Most U.S. players have a college degree, and
by one estimate more than half earn 100,000 (U.S.) annually,
says the Chicago Tribune. |
"It's a very cerebral
game -- it's akin to chess,"
Because of its global reach, squash suits business travelers.
"It's a very cerebral game -- it's akin to chess,"
says Chicago Neurobiologist Dr. Sangram Sisodia, who learned
to play the game as a child in India. As a researcher of Alzheimer's
disease, adds the Tribune, he firmly believes in increasing
blood flow to the brain through such exertion. "Squash
has beneficial aspects physically, mentally and emotionally." |

all the cheering going to Showtime and eventually pulled
