Andrew Lynn Wins 5th Provincial Title

2004 BC Provincial Squash Championships
March 4-7 Arbutus Club, Vancouver

Veteran squash professional Andrew Lynn, of Richmond, claimed his 5th provincial squash title this weekend at the 2004 BC Provincial Squash Championships in Vancouver. Lynn met little resistance along the way, with straight game wins over Grant Stockwell, Jorge Quintero and finally Jeff Boag of Hollyburn.

The women's open was similarly dominated by Kelsey Souchereau winning 3-0 over Evergreen's Alicia Haniene.

The Saturday night banquet featured the presentation and honouring of some prominent stars in squash both on and off the court. Executive Director of Squash BC, Leigh Skelton, and Adele Burris proudly announced the 2004 John Burris Sportmanship award to youngster Mike Revell of the River Club in Richmond. Congratulations Mike!!

The evening continued with a tribute to newly appointed CEO of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games, John Furlong. John was (and remains) a top competitor, promoter and supporter of the sport of squash.

The 2004 award for sportsmanship during this year's tournament was earned by an inspirational moment of selflessness by popular Bob Irwin of the River Club. Irwin played consecutive five game matches on Sunday morning (5 minutes apart!!) just to accommodate his opponent's wish to leave early on a business trip. Bob, we love you!!

The Arbutus Club put a wonderful effort as usual with the help of smiling volunteers, staff, patrons and key sponsors Dunlop Sports and On Track Computers.
