BC Closed Championships and Awards

The BC Closed Championships and the Squash BC Awards were held at the Arbutus Club Feb. 27 through Mar. 2nd. Play started on Wednesday night in the Men’s A and B draws in order to fit them all in. There were some hotly contested matches throughout the tournament with some going well past the hour mark. One of the more competitive matches was in the 50+ with Rashid Aziz playing Bill Treloar in the semi’s. Bill managed to pull it off 10-9 in the 5th but not before both had about 5 match balls. You could say there were a couple of tired 50+ players after that match.

Melanie Jans won her second BC title in the Women’s Open while Winston Cabell won his 7th BC title. (Winston and Steve Lawton are now tied with seven BC titles apiece.)
