Racquet Sport Volunteer
YMCA-YWCA of Greater Victoria, Downtown Branch
Nature and Scope
The Racquet Sport Volunteer provides excellence in customer service
and support, to the members who book a time for instruction/orientation
to the courts. Reporting to the Recreation and Sports Coordinator,
the volunteer in this position will provide instruction and general
orientation while maintaining a friendly, welcoming and safe environment
following the rules and guidelines set out by the YMCA-YWCA of Greater
Victoria. This person will provide excellent customer service to
all members.
The Racquet Sport Volunteer will be based at the Downtown YMCA-YWCA
facility. The candidate for this position will be able to work unsupervised.
This Racquet Sport Volunteer must be available for a minimum of
one 1 hour volunteer shift per week.
Responsibilities
- To instruct racquet sports and orient members to the court
area while following the rules and guidelines set out by the YMCA-YWCA
of Greater Victoria.
- To create a safe, friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
- To ensure associated paperwork is completed.
- To check cleanliness, report any maintenance issues in the
court area
- To share knowledge and experience with other members
- To maintain and develop relationships with members, participants,
staff and other volunteers within the YMCA-YWCA.
- To wear the appropriate supplied uniform while volunteering
Qualifications:
- N.C.C.P. Level 1 Passport (squash).
- Experience playing/coaching squash is preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding with the rules of squash is preferred.
- A clear Criminal Reference Check is required.
- Standard First Aid and CPR-C is required.
