BC – Provincial Developing Junior Program
Program Overview
The Provincial Developing Junior Program has been designed to guide
the committed and improving junior squash athlete through a program
of skill and fitness development in a supportive, fun environment.
Using the input of certified Coaches and a guiding group of parent
coordinators, selected athletes will have their skill and fitness
abilities assessed through participation in a series of Provincial
Camps. Through the Camp assessment process, the athletes will have
technical, strategic and fitness improvements identified in their
game. Upon completion of the Camps, athletes will receive a ‘Player
Assessment Report’ from which they can return to their training
bases to focus on the areas of improvement. All aspects of the Program
will be conducted in a manner designed to create enjoyment for squash
through skill development, camaraderie, improved fitness and fun.
Program Goals
The primary objective of the Developing Junior Program is to upgrade
the base skill set of improving squash athletes. Upon providing
the athletes with the core skills to be successful at Provincial
level competitions, the athletes may be invited to participate in
National level skill development as part of the Provincial High
Performance Program.
Program Organization
Selected athletes will be invited to one Provincial Camp in the
fall of the year and one in the winter/spring. Each camp will have
a minimum of two certified squash Coaches coordinating the Camps,
with some Camps providing guest speakers to provide specialized
information to the athletes.
The Junior Development Committee of Squash BC
subsidizes a significant portion of the costs associated to each
