Passing of Gary Hogg
The BC squash community while in Toronto for the Nationals received
the sad news of the passing of Gary Hogg on May 4th, the opening
day of the tournament.
Gary only took up the game in his mid-thirties and was an active
participant in many tournaments and was known by many as an ageless
wonder who could still run and not just shoot as a masters squash
player. He was always striving to improve his games and even as
late of 15 months ago was playing almost every day.
He went to the nationals for the last 15 years and finally in
2003 in Edmonton won his national title just after turning 65.
He unfortunately was not able to defend his title in Vancouver
last year because of his battle with cancer.
Gary was always of good cheer, ageless in his attitude, and great
loyal friend. He will be sorely missed by his many squash buddies
and especially me, his Friday 6 am drill partner for the last
fifteen years.
