2010 BC Closed Squash Championships

The Comox Valley Squash Club is very excited, and honored, that Squash BC has asked us to host the BC Closed Squash Championships this year. We are looking forward to putting on a great tournament and offering everyone some famous Comox Valley hospitality.

The Comox Valley has two modern squash facilities, the Courtenay Recreation Association Lewis Centre, and the Comox Recreation Centre, just 10 minutes apart. The Lewis Centre, in downtown Courtenay, will be the tournament headquarters.

As with our annual Easter Bunny tournament, we offer tremendous value for our out of town guests. On the Friday night, the club hosts your evening meal with a variety of customary and exotic chili. Also, a continental breakfast and light lunch are provided for both Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday banquet is conveniently held at the Lewis Centre following the completion of Saturday’s matches. The meal includes a baron of beef, roast chicken, lasagne, and all the fixings. After dinner, Squash BC will do a short awards ceremony and then the party begins with a live band. Guest tickets for the banquet are available for only $20.

For many of you this could be a welcome break from the restrictions and hectic pace of the Olympics. So a trip to the Comox Valley would be an ideal getaway. Mt. Washington is only 30 minutes away from the squash courts, offering both cross-country and downhill skiing. The golf courses are in great shape and if you care for a short drive, the magnificent West Coast is a terrific place to spend a day, especially for those who love year–round surfing. And have you heard about the West Coast Hat-trick? That’s where you ski in the morning, then play a round of Championship golf (9 holes anyway), then go salmon fishing for a couple of hours before dark, all in the same day. It’s the best place in the world to do this.
